Algarve is well-known for its warm water beaches and luxury golf courses; but there is more of this Portuguese region to explore. The area is a paradise for ornithologists and birdwatchers, since most of it has been included in the IBA (Important Bird Area – Birdlife International). The best place to observe birds is Sagres, a small town in Vila Obispo area, next to San Vicente Cape. Sagres is consider one of the best site for birdwatching in Europe, regarding the incredible amount of migratory birds that pass heading South between August and November.
